THE CONCRETE SHED

Product Information, Terms, Warranty & Care Guide

Handmade Concrete Products for Everyday Living

ABOUT OUR CONCRETE

At The Concrete Shed, every product is individually handcrafted using premium Glass Fibre  Reinforced Concrete (GFRC).

Our pieces are made for both residential and commercial spaces, combining durability with a  refined architectural finish.

What is GFRC?

GFRC (Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete) is an advanced concrete mix containing cement, fine  aggregates, polymers, water, and alkali-resistant glass fibres.

Compared to traditional concrete, GFRC offers:

• Higher tensile and flexural strength

• Reduced overall weight

• Greater versatility in shape and design

• Seamless large-format applications

• Minimal structural load on cabinetry and flooring

This allows us to create:

• Kitchen benchtops

• Outdoor entertaining surfaces

• Vanity tops and basins

• Furniture

• Fireplace surrounds

• Homewares

• Commercial fit-outs

• Custom architectural pieces

Every item is poured, processed, and sealed by hand, meaning no two pieces will ever be  identical.

IS CONCRETE RIGHT FOR YOU?

Concrete is a natural, living material. While extremely durable, it is not indestructible.

Our products are ideal for clients who appreciate handcrafted finishes, subtle variation, and  organic character.

Concrete develops personality over time. Small changes in tone, patina, and wear are part of  what makes the material unique.

Before proceeding, it’s important to understand:

• Concrete can mark, scratch, or stain if not cared for properly

• Variations in colour and texture are normal

• Pinholes, tonal movement, and natural inconsistencies are expected • Heat, impact, and harsh chemicals can affect the surface sealer

Although our products are professionally sealed before leaving the workshop, ongoing care  is still required to preserve the appearance of the piece.

We encourage all customers to review this guide carefully and contact us with any questions  before ordering.

• Grout fills

• Patina development

These are not defects and do not affect structural performance.

Samples and showroom displays should be treated as guides only. Final products may differ  due to:

• Casting methods

• Sealing processes

• Material batch variation

• Lighting conditions

No two products will ever be identical.

Clients collecting directly from our workshop accept responsibility for the product once it  leaves our premises.

Items collected without professional transport protection may be vulnerable to damage  during transit.

The Concrete Shed is not liable for:

• Transport damage

• Improper securing during transit

• Damage occurring after collection

INSTALLATION & SITE REQUIREMENTS

Site Accuracy

Where final measurements or templates are supplied by the client, accuracy becomes the  client’s responsibility.

Cabinetry, flooring, and supporting structures must be:

• Level

• Square

• Structurally adequate

The Concrete Shed is not responsible for issues arising from inaccurate measurements or  inadequate support structures.

Weight & Support

Although GFRC is lighter than traditional concrete, products still require proper support. Avoid placing excessive weight on unsupported overhangs or edges.

Standing or sitting on unsupported sections may lead to cracking or structural damage.

Heat Exposure

Concrete itself is heat resistant, however the protective sealer is not designed for direct high  heat exposure.

Do not place:

• Hot cookware

• Hair tools

• Pizza trays

• Open flames

directly onto the surface.

Always use trivets or heat barriers.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

Everyday Cleaning

For routine cleaning:

• Use a soft damp cloth or sponge

• Mild pH-neutral cleaners are recommended • Dry the surface after cleaning

Avoid:

• Abrasive pads

• Bleach products

• Citrus cleaners

• Harsh chemicals

• Acidic cleaning agents

Aggressive scrubbing may damage the sealer.

Preventing Scratches

Concrete surfaces should be treated with care. Avoid dragging or sliding:

• Pots

• Plates

• Bags

• Decorative objects

• Tools

• Appliances

Use:

• Felt pads

• Trivets

• Mats

• Chopping boards

to help protect the surface.

Staining

Although sealed, concrete remains a porous natural material. Spills should be cleaned promptly, especially:

• Wine

• Coffee

• Oil

• Vinegar

• Citrus

• Turmeric

• Cosmetics

Prolonged exposure may cause permanent staining or discolouration.

Moisture & Trapped Water

Avoid leaving wet items sitting directly on concrete surfaces. Items such as:

• Soap dispensers

• Plant pots

• Vases

• Bottles

can trap moisture beneath them and create marks over time. Use trays or protective dishes underneath these objects.

CARING FOR CONCRETE HOMEWARES

Our homewares are designed primarily for decorative and light everyday use. To extend their lifespan:

• Wipe spills promptly

• Clean with a soft damp cloth

• Avoid impact to edges

• Do not use as chopping boards

• Do not place in ovens or dishwashers

Each item is handmade and should be handled carefully.

BATHROOM PRODUCT CARE

Concrete basins and integrated sinks require extra maintenance due to constant moisture  exposure.

To minimise marking:

• Dry pooling water regularly

• Avoid leaving water sitting for extended periods

• Do not use harsh drain cleaners

• Avoid abrasive scourers around wastes and fittings

Products such as:

• Fake tan

• Oils

• Nail polish remover

• Hair dye

• Cosmetics

should be cleaned immediately if spilled.

WARRANTY

The Concrete Shed provides a 12-month structural warranty on all products manufactured  by us.

This warranty covers structural failure caused solely by manufacturing defects under normal  intended use.

The warranty does not cover:

• Hairline cracks

• Surface scratches

• Staining

• Chips

• Heat damage

• Improper maintenance

• Damage from inadequate support

• Damage occurring during third-party transport

• General wear and ageing

• Grouting imperfections

Warranty claims may require photographic evidence or physical inspection.

The Concrete Shed reserves the right to determine whether a claim qualifies under warranty  and whether repair, replacement, or alternative resolution is appropriate.

AFTERCARE & LONG-TERM EXPECTATIONS

Concrete naturally evolves over time.

As your piece ages, you may notice:

• Minor tonal changes

• Light wear patterns

• Increased patina

• Natural surface ageing

These characteristics are part of the beauty and authenticity of handcrafted concrete.

During the first few weeks after installation, the sealer continues to fully cure and harden.  Extra care should be taken during this period.

PROTECTION OF CONCRETE SURFACES DURING CONSTRUCTION & TRADE WORKS

Once a product has been delivered, installed, or collected, it becomes the responsibility of  the client and/or site manager to ensure the surface is protected from damage caused by  other trades, contractors, or third parties working onsite.

Concrete surfaces must not be used as a workbench, storage area, cutting surface, mixing  station, or protective platform during ongoing construction or renovation works.

Damage caused by other trades is not covered under warranty. This includes, but is not  limited to:

• Silicone residue or silicone staining

• Paint, grout, adhesives, epoxy, or plaster contamination

• Chemical exposure

• Scratches or abrasions from tools or materials

• Chipping or impact damage

• Heat damage

• Staining caused by construction products or liquids

• Damage caused during cleaning by third parties

It is the client’s responsibility to communicate with all onsite trades regarding the care  required around concrete surfaces.

The Concrete Shed does not recommend covering concrete products with non-breathable  materials for extended periods, as trapped moisture may affect the sealer or surface  appearance. If protection is required during ongoing works, clients should seek advice from  The Concrete Shed regarding suitable temporary protection methods.

Any repairs, refinishing, stain treatment, or replacement required due to third-party damage  will be treated as a chargeable service and is not covered under warranty.
